Can you name the drain lines in your home? Toilet lines, sink drains, shower drains and sink drains to name a few. These lines dump into the main line. If you are having drain line trouble only one drain at a time is usually affected because the lines run separately.
If you find you have a clogged drain try using vinegar, baking soda, and water it is an effective, eco-friendly method of unclogging your pipes. The baking soda and hot water will loosen up any build-up that's clogging your waste pipe, and the chemical reaction from the vinegar will cause the sludge to move on down the drain. Using a harsh chemical can cause toilet bowls to crack, PVC pipes to melt or break and the glue that holds pipes together can be eaten away. If any of these things happen, you’re going to be left with an inoperable plumbing system and costly repairs.
NEVER flush:
Baby wipes - Manufacturers of baby wipes will often indicate on the packaging that the product is "flushable." Plumbing experts say there's no such thing as a flushable wipe. Because wipes don't break down in water, they can clog up plumbing systems in a home, and damage pipes and machinery at wastewater treatment plants.
Paper towels or napkins - If you're all out of toilet paper, there's no perfect solution, but you should never flush paper towels and napkins. They don't dissolve quickly in water and are likely to cause your toilet to back up.
Q-Tips, cotton pads or other cotton products: - Cotton balls, cotton pads, and Q-Tips are definitely not safe to flush — they don't break down the way toilet paper does, and all they really do is clump together in your pipes and cause problems down the line.
