Main line

Your main line is your sewer line. The main line is the line that goes from your house to the septic tank or city connection. If your main line is backed up you might have experience other plumbing trouble in your house. 

How do you know if you are having trouble with your main line or drain line? Look for where the back-up is found. If the back-up is in the lowest part of your house, that is likely main line trouble.  A clogged sewer line will usually offer clues before it backs up completely. The most common signs of a clogged line are gurgling sounds that come from drains and toilets; water backing up out of, or pooling around, drains or toilets; or the smell of raw sewage coming from drains.
